Community Engagement
From Know Your Rights forums to our community office, BDS reaches beyond the individual people and families we represent to respond to the urgent and emergent needs of local communities.
Since 2017, we have operated a walk-in Community Office in East New York. The BDS Community Office allows us to provide direct services to people who need them in the community in which they live.
We serve New York by providing information and referrals, advice and counsel, advocacy, legal representation, legal education and community workshops. We also collaborate with local community-based organization, elected officials, nearby shelters, health centers and school staff to serve community members in need of legal support.
BDS has a Community Office in East New York.
BDS' Community Office, located at 566 Livonia Avenue in Brooklyn, is open on Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
